Till now in free account the developers can only create public repositories. Hence there are so many open-source small, personal projects, and experiments available on GitHub. But now one can use GitHub’s service freely for creating private repositories. These private repositories are still restricted to only three collaborators per repository.
This change, however, is not good for the open-source ecosystem on internet. As most of the developers now find themselves tempted to make their small personal projects private; rather than public. Being a developer, I can vouch the feeling of presenting only the final version to audience. But all developers know that perfection in code never be achieved. Hence programmers’ urge, to make project public only after completion, will decrease the number of open source projects. As a result, many projects that would previously have been published as open source will now be closed up forever.
